Everyone is invited to an exciting presentation from Melissa Hillmer, owner of Otto's Fine Art Academy. She'll present about her experiences as an artist and encourage attendees to embrace their creative side. Registration is requested.

Melissa L Hillmer
Melissa is an interdisciplinary artist and educator in the Greater Milwaukee area. In 2017, Melissa received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in drawing, painting and art education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2015, she was a student artist in residence at Creative Trust Milwaukee where she taught drawing workshops for adults with Alzheimer’s. Melissa keeps an active studio practice and exhibits locally. Working primarily with painting mediums, she utilizes juxtaposition of animals and figures to varying convey moods, emotions, and atmospheres. Her paintings and fibers works have been displayed and sold in a variety of locations, including Waukesha City Hall, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, The Jazz Gallery in Milwaukee, and Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. She has also painted several murals and public art displays for the City of Waukesha.

Melissa is passionate about art education. She is a member of the Innovative Educator’s Institute program at the Lynden Sculpture Garden in Milwaukee. Melissa owns Otto’s Fine Art Academy in Waukesha, which is a K-12, supplementary-education art school. She enjoys running the school as well as teaching the many classes and camps, and recently expanded Otto’s to a second location in Mukwonago. In 2021 Melissa’s educational children’s book, Tabby is a Cat Who Likes to Paint was published and can be purchased online on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and at both Otto's Art Academy locations.
