Event Details

Jodie LaChapelle, St. Vincent DePaul's Getting Ahead Program Director, will join us to discuss Matthew Desmond's Poverty, by America. She'll explain how the Getting Ahead program helps individuals become more financially stable.

Book Summary
Desmond, the acclaimed author of Evicted, reimagines the debate on poverty in the United States and draws on history, research, and original reporting to analyze why the U.S. has more poverty than any other advanced democracy in the world.
